April is one of the best times of the year for Seattleites! Why? Not only is the weather warming up from the Spring sun, but the month is also packed full of awesome activities that are sure to appeal to every sensibility! If you’re wondering how to spend your time in the Seattle this month, you’re in the right place! 1. Seattle Restaurant Week
Whether or not you’ve noticed, you should know that Seattle is home to some of the best chefs in the country and Eleanor Apartments is lucky to have a few nearby! If this is news to you, April is the month to finally find out what we’re talking about. You’ll be able to enjoy a multitude of amazing Pacific Northwest culinary creations during Seattle Restaurant Week. During April 2 – 16 and 9 – 13, nearly 200 restaurants in and around Seattle are showing off their skills by serving special three-course lunches and dinners ranging from $18 to $32. Seattleites look forward to it all year long, so you don’t wanna miss this!
2. Seattle Scotch & Beer Fest
True connoisseurs of scotch and beer consider this to be one of the premier local Seattle events. From April 15 – 17, the Seattle Scotch & Beer Fest features the city’s most well-known craft breweries who will be offering tastes of their signature and seasonal beers. All while whiskey flights are served in the very next room! For $35, you can taste seven beers and a flight of spirits. If you’re not one to mix your brewskies and liquors, don’t worry – you can purchase a beer-only ticket for $30 that gets you the seven tastes with no spirits. One important thing to remember – ticket prices will increase on and after April 14, so get after it!
Are you a fan of anime? You’re in luck because there are local Seattle events that cater to the lover of all things anime, and April offers three days for you to get your fix! On April,14, 16 and 17, Sakura-Con takes over the Washington State Convention Center. Anime lovers will be able to connect with the industry’s hottest stars via a seemingly countless number of sessions, contests and panels. This is a members-only event, so make sure to sign up to get admission with a $65 or $75 ticket.
4. Free National Park Day
Did you know that the National Park Service has been taking care of our nation’s parks for 100 years? If you’re a nature lover, you can show your appreciation by visiting one of the 15 national parks within the state of Washington. And, you can do it for free in April! National Park Week happens on April 15 – 16 and 22 – 23. During this time, entrance fees are waived. Talk about a great way to enjoy some of Seattle’s surrounding nature!
5. Wild & Scenic Film Festival
Speaking of nature, Seattle is a city that is known for its involvement in the preservation of the environment. If you happen to be an activist or are just an admirer of Mother Nature, this event on April 19th is for you. The Wild & Scenic Film Festival seeks to educate, encourage and entertain moviegoers with films about our natural world. Tickets are $35 and include access to a happy hour.
6. Cherry Blossom Festival
Nothing says it’s Spring in Seattle like the blooming of Cherry Blossoms! There are several local Seattle events that celebrate the beautiful Cherry Blossom, but none are as popular as the Seattle Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival. During the weekend of April 21, the Seattle Center offers you a way to get in touch with Japanese culture. You can enjoy incredible Japanese food, music and crafts for free!
7. Bacon & Beer Classic
The name says it all, doesn’t it? How could you possibly miss an event that offers unlimited beer and all the bacon dishes you can eat? There are also plenty of fun activities including a giant Jenga game and a bacon-eating contest. You’ll be hard-pressed to find other local Seattle events that can fulfill your bacon desires! Make sure you show up at Safeco Field on April 29 with an empty stomach. Bacon & Beer Classic tickets range from $65 to $125.
