Best Ways to Celebrate Earth Day In Seattle

Heads UP – Eleanor is hosting an Earth Day Brunch at 11am on 4/22! Don’t Miss it!

We’ve got some big news – Seattle is called the Emerald City because of the beautiful Evergreen trees that surround the metropolitan landscape. Okay, so maybe this wasn’t really new information, but it gets to the point we’re trying to make here: Environmental awareness has long been an extremely important issue for Seattleites. It’s also something that we at Eleanor Apartments take very seriously. We know Earth Day in Seattle is kind of a big deal, and we want to provide everyone with the best version of life in this crazy town! So here goes, here are the best ways to celebrate Earth day in Seattle.

Visit a State Park! They’re Open on Earth Day

If you like to frequent many of the extraordinary parks and hiking trails that are all over the state, you know that many spots require a Discover Pass or other minimal fees. Of course, this is a way to cover the costs associated with conservation and maintenance. But, there are times when the entrance fees are waived to encourage more citizens to experience and enjoy not only nature, but also the history of Washington, and this is one of those times! Earth Day in Seattle means that you’ll have the ability to visit Washington State Parks for free!

Earth Day Run In Magnuson Park

This is a fun and healthy way to show your support for the environment. You’ll have your choice of a 10 a.m. 5k, 10k or 15k run. The registration fees required are dependent on the race distance you choose, and the proceeds will go to charity. Also, if you finish, a tree will be planted in your name and you’ll receive a sapling that you can take home or donate. And, organizers take it a step further by accepting your old running shoes for recycling. Everything about the Run is green, which makes it the perfect way to celebrate Earth Day in Seattle.

Earth Day at the Arboretum

Environmental conservation is more important now than ever, but it doesn’t happen on its own. This is why the Student Conservation Association organizes a day of service at the Washington Park Arboretum. During this event, volunteers are assigned various projects that serve to preserve and improve the health of the Arboretum’s green space. The activities begin at 9 a.m. on Earth Day. Make sure you come dressed for work and prepared for rain or shine. Trust us – you won’t regret being a part of an amazing cause.

Earth Day Story Telling

Our city has a very rich history, and Earth Day in Seattle provides us all with the opportunity to learn more about it. The Seattle Storytellers’ Guild in collaboration with the Duwamish Tribe presents this educational and entertaining event that is great for the whole family. Through speaking, stories and music, featured guests will showcase and personify the relationship between the natural world and humans. Earth Day Story Telling will occur from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. on April 23. It’s totally free but if you feel so inclined, you can donate.
