Eleanor’s Guide to Seattle’s Farmer’s Markets

Seattleites love supporting their local businesses. For a lot of folks, it’s crucial to have access to the best locally sourced produce and artisanal goods. And, as a result, almost every major neighborhood holds a spectacular Seattle farmers market every week. But, of course, not all markets are the same when it comes to size and variety. So, if you live at Eleanor, or you’re looking to venture to a farmer’s market from the Roosevelt area, here are the Seattle Farmer’s Markets you should check out.

U-District

The University District Farmers Market is probably one of the largest Seattle Farmer’s markets. And, it’s a cinch to get to if you happen to live in or near our Green Lake apartments in Seattle. All year and every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the community center parking lot on University Way, between 50th and 52nd ave NE, is lined with a plethora of incredible food and beverage options. You’ll get the highest-quality products that Washington farms have to offer. The magnitude of this market is no surprise given the U-District is where nearly 50,000 students attend the University of Washington.

Capitol Hill Broadway

This is a year round, busy and bustling market, and it’s just 10 minutes from our Roosevelt apartments in Seattle. The Capitol Hill Broadway Farmers Market happens every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Broadway and Pine, visitors have their pick delectable meats, fruits and veggies as well as gorgeous floral arrangements, and tap kombucha! Plus, there are often street performers entertaining visitors with music and other talents. It’s not to be missed!

Phinney Ridge

One benefit of having living in Roosevelt,Seattle is that the Phinney Ridge neighborhood is just a couple of miles away, right on the other side of greenlake.  Phinney’s awesome farmers market fills the upper lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Center each Friday from June 2 to October 6. Many people prefer Phinney to other markets because it’s not too big and the main focus is food. So, if you have a hankering for some meat, cheese, ice cream or pasta, make sure to head over to the Phinney Market between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Magnolia

From June 3 to October 14, you can spend your Saturdays in Magnolia Village at the Magnolia Farmers Market. This is about eight miles from Eleanor’s Roosevelt apartments. It’s a great place to hit up if you’re thinking of cooking up a gourmet meal. From fresh meats and produce to baked goods and wine, you can find whatever you need here. Just make sure you catch it while it’s open during the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Lake City

The Lake City market is on the smaller side, but it still boasts a wide variety of food types. In addition to local favorites, you can enjoy international cuisine including authentic Mexican dishes, and German and European pastries. Their season runs from June 8 through October 5, and the market is open every Thursday between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. For residents of our Roosevelt apartments in Seattle, it’s just a quick 10-minute jaunt to Lake City.
