If You’re Looking For a Fun Saturday in Roosevelt, Seattle, You’re in luck!

Roosevelt is a fantastic neighborhood for weekend fun. Between the outdoors, shopping, and the food, there’s plenty in Roosevelt for you to do to occupy your whole Saturday.

First, Start with Breakfast

There are PLENTY of places to grab breakfast or brunch in Roosevelt. Here are just a few of our favorites:

  • Portage Bay on 65th
  • Local, Organic, and Sustainable food done right! Portage Bay is delicious, wholesome and extremely popular.
  • Wayward Vegan Cafe
  • A plant-based restaurant that serves up comfort food that’s sure to hit the spot whether you’re a vegan or a full-fledged carnivore.
  • The Butcher & The Baker
  • This spot’s tasty weekend brunch is the toast of the town – or at least of Roosevelt!

Follow up breakfast with a stroll through the U-district Farmer’s Market (1st Saturday of The Month)

The Farmer’s market on the corner of 50th and Brooklyn is a fantastic Saturday activity. With purveyors of farm fresh goods (including produce, meat, and everything in between) alongside local buskers and street eats, the U District Farmer’s Market gives you the most immediate access to local flavors and talents. What started in 1993 as a small neighborhood street market has grown into a citywide campaign to prioritize farmers and food, making farm fresh ingredients available to the city folk that so desperately crave them.  

Take Care of Some Weekly Errands

    • Right in the heart of the neighborhood, in Roosevelt Square
  • Safeway
    • Just a few blocks north of Roosevelt Square
  • Trader Joe’s
    • About six or seven blocks south of Roosevelt Square

After that, Make Sure to Enjoy Some Time Outside

There are a few parks near or within the Roosevelt neighborhood where you can quickly immerse yourself in nature, here’s where –

  • Ravenna ParkPerfect for grabbing a quick a little slice of nature, especially when you don’t have a ton of time. Ravenna’s trail is ideal for afternoon walks, or some serious Urban Hiking.
  • Cowen Park– Directly adjacent to Ravenna, Cowen has a nice big field and a playground for kids.
  • Green Lake– Green Lake’s long loop is an excellent outdoor spot to exercise, and during the summer it’s an even better place to go for a swim.

Grab Some Lunch!

We touched on it in our Neighborhood Highlights Blog, but just as a little refresher, one of the best things about the Roosevelt neighborhood is how you can get delicious food from all around the world, right within the same few blocks. Here are our favorite Roosevelt Lunch Spots.

  • Rain City Burgers
    • Serves up delicious burgers, fries, and shakes made with all natural, hormone-free beef. The Sounder’s Burger is where it’s at!
  • An Nam Pho
    • An Nam offers traditional Vietnamese dishes that are quick and accessible. The Pho is perfect for warming you up on a cold Saturday!

    • Delicious Thai eats that will surely add a bit of spice to your Saturday afternoon.

    • Casa Patron does Mexican, Latin, Spanish, and SouthWestern Inspired foods that will sweep you away to warmer climates.

    • One of the best spots for a quick sushi lunch in all of the town, Sushi Tokyo, offers mouthwatering sushi to suit all budgets!

Take a little time to Rock Out!

The Trading Musician is one of a unique shop in Roosevelt and one of the best music stores in all of Seattle. If you’re musically inclined, and you want to kill a Saturday afternoon in Roosevelt, make sure to visit the Trading Musician. They have a ton of guitars that you can pick up off the wall and play right there. They also have drums, acoustic instruments like banjos and violins, synthesizers, effects pedals, microphones – you name it, they’ve got it for you to check out and try at Trading Musician. Plus, they also buy back used music gear, which has allowed them to amass a serious stockpile of vintage guitars and amps.

Why Not Get Some Exercise?

There are plenty of spots to squeeze in quick, yet thorough workout in Roosevelt. In fact,  some of them are the best spots for breaking a sweat in all of Seattle. Here are a few of our favorite spots for fitting in a Saturday workout:

    • UFC Roosevelt offers MMA training in many styles and varieties of combat, but really they offer so much more – enough to challenge people of all levels of fitness.

Cap Off a Wonderful Saturday With a Delicious Dinner

Roosevelt has it all, including fantastic restaurants to grab dinner, and just like the neighborhood’s lunch offerings, dinner in Roosevelt is decidedly international.  Here are a few of our favorite dinner spots in the Roosevelt Neighborhood:

  • Pies and Pints
    • Beer, Pizza, and some of the best Mac & Cheese around. If pub food with a kick is what you’re after, you can’t lose with Pies and Pints.
  • India Bistro
    • Voted one of the Best Indian Restaurants in Seattle, Indian Bistro is an upscale spot that matches the flavors of its food with the charm of the restaurant.  
  • Salvatore Ristorante Italiano
    • One of the premier places for Italian food in the neighborhood, Salvatore opened in 1988, making it one of the longest standing, most beloved restaurants in Roosevelt.
